Education
Jennifer Hanson President, Internet Safety Foundation, Instructional My involvement with the Internet Safety Foundation started with a coincidental meeting at a community event I was hosting for my school district. That chance meeting started the wheels of fate turning and my journey with the Foundation began. The rest of the story is simple. I am crazy about kids and crazy about technology. I want all young people to have the opportunity to use technology in a safe and responsible way. Yet, our digital world is full of inherent risks; risks that young people have misconceptions about and adults have a hard time understanding. Our young people fall victim to those risks and the solution lies in a cohesive effort between law enforcement, school districts and parents to educate our young people about being safe online. As a Foundation, we are working to bring resources to communities, trainings to teachers and ideas for teen involvement to the state. With each presentation, conversation, community event and summit we are changing the way that young people interact online. Our work is far from complete, but the army of responsible digital citizens is growing person by person, one community at a time. |
